Walk: Taking advantage of the artificial grass covered footpaths on the Tolkien Way we walked as far as Jumbles Rocks before heading past Hobbit Hill to the main road. A short walk then took us to the Lower Hodder Bridge where we continued along the Tolkien Way. From Hodder Place we then made our way to Stonyhurst College and back to the car.
Start Point: Hurst Green Village Hall car park Grid Reference: SD 684 382
Distance: 5.7 miles Ascent: 431 ft
Time: 3 hours
Weather: The warmest day of the year so far
Comments: This familiar route was chosen as many field footpaths are still rather muddy. Much of the route is beside the River Ribble and the River Hadder but today we didn't walk past the confluence of the two rivers nor the confluence with the Calder.

The River Ribble . . .

where the Jumble Rocks create some interest
