Comments:

Leaving the hotel we made our way to the old centre of Sant Elm before heading out onto the smugglers’ track. This brought us to the ruined tower, Torre de Cala en Basset built in the 16th century and was part of the network of towers used to control the coast and to protect the town against pirate attacks. A gradual, then steep climb took us on the path to Sa Trapa, the ruins of a Trapist monastery. After taking lunch here we climbed to the highest point of the walk at Coll de ses Animes. The descent was via a landrover track that zig-zagged down the hillside. Turning off through the woods a good path took us back into Sant Elm in time for a swim before dinner.
