Walk: Mearley Moor, Scout Cairn, Big End, Ogden Clough, Deerstones, Churn Clough Reservoir
Start Point: Sabden, Clitheroe Road lay-by Grid Reference: SD 775 380
Distance: 8.8 miles Ascent: 1,170 feet
Time: 4 hours
Weather: Sunny but a very strong wind
Comments: The strong headwind for the first half of the walk, which is mainly uphill, made walking more difficult. Trying yet another descent into Ogden Clough now gives me three to choose from.

Mearley Moor . . .

which has a dedication plaque . . .

and a view to the Nick Of Pendle

From the Scout Cairn the shelter can just be seen

Big End is much quieter today

Time to leave Ogden Clough . . .

but the path is steeper than it looks!

Churn Clough Reservoir

In the woodland the trees used to in straight lines . . .

but are now being replaced . . .

by a variety of deciduous trees

A peacock butterfly . . .

enjoys a spot in a sunny dell
