Walk: Gatesgarth Farm, Scarth Gap, Haystacks, Innominate Tarn, Blackbeck Tarn, Warnscale Beck, quarry track, Warnscale Bottom
Start Point: Gatesgarth Farm car park Grid Reference: NY 195 149
Distance: 5 miles Ascent: 2,000 feet
Time: 4.75 hours
Weather: Wet at the start clearing to a dry, mild day
Comments: The path from Scarth Gap to the summit of Haystacks was quite difficult to follow and tough in places. Having checked in Wainwrght's book it was easy to identify the Wainwright summit as the nothern one of the two cairns on the ridge beside the tarn. Some of the route between Blackbeck Tarn seemed to have changed from the last time I was here, but that was 10 years ago!
