Walk: Hollinshead Hall (ruin), Tockholes Plantation, Earnsdale Reservoir, Jubilee Tower, Darwen Moor, Hollinshead Hall (ruin)
Start Point: Crookfield Road car park, off Belmont Road Grid Reference: SD 665 191
Distance: 7 miles Ascent: 1,600 feet
Time: 2.75 hours
Weather: Dry but a very strong wind on the open moors
Comments: Choosing quite a short route, this walk was made even shorter due to the route through Sunnyhurst Woods being closed. By the time I got to Jubilee Tower the wind was very strong so a quick lunch was taken in the shelter of the tower before continuing back to the car via Lyon Den.

The Well House at Hollinshead Hall . . .

is the only building left standing

River Roddlesworth

Jubilee Tower, today's target

Unforunately Sunnyhurst Wood is off limits . . .

so my route takes me beside . . .

Earnsdale Reservoir

Good to see a stone wall being built instead of fencing being erected

A very windy Jubilee Tower

Sunnyhurst Hey Reservoir seems to have been drained

These bracket fungi . . .

look relatively new . . .

as they are in very good condition

The well-spaced trees make the woods in this area quite inviting
