Walk: Bamber Bridge, Old Tramway, Avenham Park, Guild Wheel, Preston Docks, Guild Wheel, Avenham Park, Old Tramway, Cuerden Valley
Start Point: Home
Distance: 11 miles Ascent: 550 feet
Time: 2.5 hours
Weather: Overcast and cool
Comments: Taking a slightly different route to usual I made my way to Preston and found places in Avenham Park that I have never visited before. Continuing on to the docks via the Guild Wheel I spent some time trying to photograph common terns using a nesting area provided by the Preston City Council, the Fylde Bird Club and the RSPB. The return route was then pretty much the same as the outward route.

A section of Avenham Park . . .

holds a very apt memorial, today being the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

A grand staircase

Much activitiy and noise requires a closer look . . .

and an information board tells me all

Not having a camera with me . . .

the photos aren't as clear as I would like . . .

so the phone will have to suffice . . .

to record the activities of the common tern
