Walk: Mearley Moor, Scout Cairn, Big End, Deep Clough, Upper Ogden Reservoir, Driver Height, Spence Moor, Deerstones
Start Point: Sabden, Clitheroe Road lay-by Grid Reference: SD 775 380
Distance: 9 miles Ascent: 2,000 feet
Time: 4.5 hours
Weather: Blue skies and sun with a complete white-out towards the end of the walk
Comments: Crisp cold conditions left the ground, which had a covering of snow, firm to walk on. An icy wind in exposed sections gave me the opportunity to test out a new jacket - very pleased with its thermal qualities. There were some good views from the summit before a change in the weather approached, becoming a complete white-out by the time a reached deerstones. Fortunately it then cleared before I reached the car.

Looking across the Ribble Valley . . .

to the Chipping Fells . . .

from Mearley Moor

Scout Cairn

The clouds has crept over . . .

by the time I reach the summit . . .

but there are still good views to the Black Moss Reservoirs . . .

and Lower Ogden Reservoir . . .

seen again from further along the path

Upper Ogden Reservoir outflow . . .

and overflow . . .

and the reservoir itself

Ogden Clough

The weather starts to close in . . .

and the light hail changes to heavy snow . . .

but it has all cleared before I reach the car
