Walk: Dubhow, Deepdale Bridge, Hartsop Above How, Hart Crag, Dove Crag, Bakestones Moss, Little Hart Crag, High Hartsop Dodd, Hartsop Hall, Sykeside, Brothers Water concessionary footpath
Start Point: Cow Bridge car park Grid Reference: NY 403 133
Distance: 10.3 miles Ascent: 3,120 feet
Time: 6.25 hours
Weather: Severe wind with some drizzle and a short spell of heavier rain
Comments: The original target for today's group walk was Priest's Hole in the Dovedale Valley but the very strong wind and rain meant that we had to miss this out. We took in 4 Wainwrights but the weather limited the photos taken. An enjoyable walk despite the weather.

All smiles and raring to go with some rain and strong winds forecast

Ian checks out . . .

the bridge to nowhere. The winter storms have re-routed the stream . . .

and even filled in the old stream bed

The higher bridge has escaped any damage

Starting the climb up Hartsop Above How . . .

we can see Place Fell and Arnison Crag to its left

The group takes a break . . .

before continuing past the cairn . . .

and up the steep final ascent to Hart Crag

Descending Bakestones Moss we find a sheltered spot for lunch . . .

and Ray chooses a 'rocky armchair'

It's still very windy . . .

on Little Hart Crag . . .

and you could almost believe it is winter on High Hartsop Dodd!

Time for reflection . . .

beside Brothers Water
