Distance: 7.5 mls Ascent: 2,000 ft
Time: 5 hrs
Weather: Dry and overcast with some sun breaking through
Comments: The climb up the north end of Mellbreak was very enjoyable, with some steep scree sections. An indistinct path took us off the southern end to join the lakeside path which we followed back to the car. A vey enjoyable walk.

Taking a morning stroll from the hotel . . .

we find that it isn't possible to take advantage of the seat . . .

to enjoy the view!

Skiddaw and it's surrounding summits

The north end of Mellbreak - our ascent this morning . . .

and zooming in we can see a group already on their way up

Loweswater from half way up the climb . . .

and again from the summit . . .

where Marie . . .

and I take a short break for photos

Heading along the ridge Buttermere and Fleetwith Pike come into view . . .

with Red Pike to the right

Eventually we can also see Crummock Water . . .

and check out the southern shoreline

On our descent we can hear Scale Force . . .

before we can see it . . .

taking advantage of the zoom lense

Looking to our left . . .

the sun highlights the summit of Grasmoor

Walking beside Crummock Water, Low Ling Crag provides a good views . . .

to the north . . .

and a good spot for lunch

A last look at the north end of Mellbreak as we return to the car
