Walk: Rothay Park, Stockghyll Woods, Kirkstone Pass, Red Screes, Middle Dodd, Scandale Pass, Scandale Valley, Ambleside, Rothay Park
Start Point: Under Loughrigg Grid Ref: NY 371 045
Distance: 10.5 miles Ascent: 2,840 feet
Weather: Sunny all day Time: 6 hours
Comments: Almost the end of September and we are treated to a beautiful sunny day so what better than a walk in the Lakes. The route from Ambleside to the Kirkstone Pass is a pleasant walk, climbing gradually until the steeper section of The Struggle is reached. From the Pass we took my favourite way onto Red Screes, following a well constructed stone path with some short 'scrambly' sections. Middle Dodd was an 'out and back' today, with the 'back' contouring across to Scandale Pass. From there it was all downhill with the route being much clearer and easier than the last time I was here. A very pleasant walk on a beautiful day.
